Fuddruckers

We figured we could incorporate the quest to our vacation to Oregon. My parents asked us where we wanted to eat for the lunch after the wedding and we subtly suggested Fuddruckers so we could try their Oreo shake. I had only been a couple of times growing up, We only went there for special occasions and stuff, and what's more special than my brothers wedding and Christmas!!

Fuddruckers has always boasted "The World's Greatest Hamburgers" and while that might not be true (they do have good burgers though) I like that they have lots of different kinds of burgers (IE: ostrich burgers, buffalo burgers) even through I usually just stick with the standard cheeseburger. I also like their "toppings bar" where you just add however many pickles, tomatoes or whatever you want to your burger. They also have a bunch of condiment despensors where you can put on as much ketchup, barbeque sauce or honey mustard you want on your burger and fries.

But we all know the real reason why you're reading this. To find out how their Oreo shake was! We were pretty exited because not only were they supposed to have "the wold's best hamburgers" but they also advertised "the worlds best shakes"! We had to find out it it was true!

The price was decent for what you got. It was pretty big and came with the extra shake in a metal cup! I don't recommend trying to finish it yourself, but with company it's just right! We were kinda surprised too because the food was kinda on the pricy side... It ended up with a 3 out of 5.

The presentation was pretty great. A 5 for the whipped cream and literal cherry on top. Naomi let me eat it and it was great! They had a pretty fancy glass too!

Taste was pretty good too. It was mixed pretty well and had plenty of flavor. it got a 4.

Texture was less than satisfactory earning it a 2.5. It was definitely made to be drunk. With the straw it was pretty obvious, but I would've liked a few more chunks.

All together it wasn't amazing and "the world's best shake" but it'd recommend it.

The totals came out to be:

Presentation - 5
Price - 3
Taste - 4
Texture - 3.625

Arctic Circle

Arctic Circle was one of our first stops on this shake filled journey. We mostly thought of it because of the constant ads (or circulars, as my wife would say). Don't get me wrong I love a dicounted shake and cheap ranch burgers as much as the other guy, but it was just about weekly when we lived down in Provo. But, can you blame em? They know their audience ...

Their food seems to be kind of a side note to their desserts. But, with a name like Arctic Circle it's kinda a given. So, suffice it to say, the bar was pretty high. Sorry to give it away, but they met those high expectations with the best Oreo shake from a major chain we've had so far.

We had never really eaten at Arctic Circle before, so we didn't really know what to expect. The food was surprisingly good for how cheap it was (it did help that we had some coupons).

Much like the pictures the shake looked pretty good. Covered in Oreo pieces with the signature "above the rim" style in lived up to it's own hype. As far as chain burger places go this was the best lookin' shake giving it a 4.5.

Even without our buy one get one free coupon the shake was pretty decently priced. The shake wasn't too big for one person, but still gave you plenty to enjoy with or without a meal. It got a 4.

Taste wasn't as good with a 3.5. It wasn't Oreo-y enough for my liking. After we got though the top and the big Oreo chunks were got we were left with an "okay" Oreo shake.

Texture hit it out of the ballpark. Just like the people you see on the ads holding the shake upside down it was thick and too much for any straw to handle. In addition to the big chunks on the top there were pieces throughout the shake landing it a 5 out of 5.

The total is:

Presentation - 4.5
Price - 4
Taste - 3.5
Texture - 5
Overall - 4.25

Fatburger

My company flew us out to Mandalay Bay on the strip in Vegas this weekend! Naomi's parents were super happy to take our 2 month old for the weekend too! We had a good time in all. The hotel room at Mandalay Bay was sweet.  It had an indoor aquarium and resort complete with palm trees and everything. Here's the view out of our window!

We rented a car (we got a Fiat). My wife loves Fiats (probably more than she should). She used to live by a Fiat factory in Italy and would see them all the time. We drove over to the M&M store and mall. After we parked we planned out where we should go for dinner. We settled on Fatburger this diner type burger place a little ways up the strip.
Much like Vegas, it was pretty crowded.

Their menu's a little different in that you only have one burger to choose from. You choose the size, what you want on it and with it. You could have the standard ketchup or BBQ sauce or even steak sauce on it. We got a couple of burgers, some onion rings and their Oreo cookies and cream shake. We were pretty exited with their international footprint in places like Beijing and Calgary so they had to be good!

As a side note they seemed super helpful and
offered to get us some extra sauce, but it turns out
that they confused their BBQ sauce with steak sauce ...
On top of that I asked for some BBQ sauce and they didn't even bring it ...

The food was ... okay. The onion rings had pretty small pieces of onion in them and ended up being mostly batter. I got a large Fatburger and it was pretty good, but the patty fell apart while I was eating it! I understand when you have to worry about stuff falling out of your burger, but you shouldn't hafta worry about the meat and bread falling apart when you eat it. (Side note: their burgers go up to a pound and a half, so if you're really hungry this is the place.) Also, if money is no object then you can order anything; this place was kinda spendy. (But for being on the Strip in Las Vegas it is understandable.)

So turning our attention to the milkshake.

For presentation, it did pretty well. They asked us if we wanted it with whipped cream. Apparently some people don't like  whipped cream. It came in a fancy-ish cup too so that was pretty cool. For that we gave it a 4 out of 5.
The price was less than satisfactory. It was 5 bucks for a shake, and it wasn't even that big ... I can see this at like a sit down restaurant for a shake in a fancy glass cup, but this shake was nothing to write home about so it scored a 1.5 because after all it is Vegas and everything seems to be crazy expensive ...

Taste was pretty good. As evidenced by it's darker color it was Oreo all the way through. It way pretty good, especially with the whipped cream so we gave it a 4.5.

Texture was alright. It was an interesting shake in the fact that it was intended to be eaten through a straw, but still had some large pieces of Oreo. That was cool, until you realize that the pieces get stuck and make it hard to get any shake ... It got a 2.5 out of 5.

The final score for Fatburger was:

Presentation - 4
Price - 1.5
Taste - 4.5
Texture - 2.5
Overall - 3.125

Leatherby's

I've only been to Leatherby's once or twice. I think it was in college to make a late night ice cream run. It was good, kinda pricy, but good. We were looking up places with shakes and Leatherby's came up and I thought to myself "Self, I bet they have an Oreo milkshakes." And, they did!

Like the rest of the menu the Oreo shake wasn't cheap. But, it was huge!! I'm glad me and my wife
decided to split it because I don't know if we could've finished it on our own with the food. Because the amount seemed to put it in an ... okay ... standing with value, price ended up being 2 out of 5. Just make sure you understand what you're ordering. It may be a lot, but sometime that's just right!

The presentation was pretty nice. It had a fancy glass so that's always a plus. But, I think there's definitely some room for improvement with it's lake of whipped cream, cherry-on-top or Oreo crumbs ...
Just sayin' ... anyways it scored a 3 for presentation.

Taste also ended up with a 3 out of 5. It was pretty Oreo-y
but still tasted somewhat of its base of vanilla ice-cream.

Texture was pretty low with a 1.5. It was definitely made to sip.
It was well blended, but so well blended there wasn't really any
indication with the texture that you were eating an Oreo shake.

To summerize it was an alright shake not amazing ... but i mean, it's an Oreo shake ...

Hire's Big H

Some time ago we found ourselves in Salt Lake City around lunch time.  Actually we were in Salt Lake for a very exciting purpose.  We had an appointment with the doctor because we were having a baby! (We've already had that adorable bundle of joy btw. It has taken me this long to write this post. Also, our baby will assist us in this quest as she gets older of course.) Anywho, we figured we should get some lunch and a shake before the appointment.

We decided to go to Hire's Big H.  Hire's has a old fashioned atmosphere and boy, was that place hoppin'! We ordered some burgers, fries and a shake then sat down to wait. While we were waiting I enjoyed reading about their history and food reviews on the back of their menu.

When the shake came it was a good-sized shake with a bit of whipped cream on the top.  Whipped cream for the win!  We gave it a 3 out of 5 for presentation.  The shake was on the expensive side (about $5) so we gave that a 3 out of 5 as well.  The texture was better.  Pretty thick with some chunks.  4 out of 5.  The taste however was AMAZING!  It was very Oreo-y and sweet.  We had to give it a 5 out of 5.

The grand total ended up being 3.75.  It was an okay shake all around but not the best.

Final tally:
Presentation - 3
Price - 3

Tonyburgers

We stopped by the local eatery Tonyburgers to try their Oreo shake after we found out they had one on their menu. The place was pretty busy and I'd compare it to a Five Guys or SmashBurger with it's clean but welcoming ambiance. They stuck with the standard red color scheme too.

The food was pretty good, but one of the first things we noticed after we sat down with our meal was the great lengths they go to to make their french fries. There was like 10 steps including frying it ... twice! Nonetheless, the fries were okay. Their "secret" recipe didn't seem to make a difference ...

But, I digress ...                                                on to the shake.

It was pretty impressive on the presentation side with its whipped cream and straw. It may not have been the most beautiful shake around, but we gave it a 4.

As for price it left us... (well, lets just say, less than satisfied). It was pretty expensive for not a lot of shake. That seemed to be the same story for the rest of the food there, a little too rich for my blood. It only scored a 2 for price.

Texture was also a sad story of sorts with the final tally at 2.5 out of 5. It was definitely made to drink through a straw (hence the straw). There was a definite lack of chunks too. But, that being said, it was still worth a taste.

Taste was much better, earning them a 4 out of 5 in our eyes. Even without the chunks it had a good Oreo flavor throughout the shake.

The final score was ...

Presentation - 4
Price - 2
Taste - 4
Texture - 2.5
Overall - 3.125

Jake's Over the Top

We love taking suggestions from friends and readers because then we can find gems that we would never find without your help!  One such gem was Jake's Over the Top recommended by my friend Josie.  I don't think I had ever been to Ogden before but with the promise of an Oreo shake and some after Black Friday shopping we set out!

Jake's Over the Top is a tiny burger joint that prides itself on its "over the top" shakes.  We got there as it was getting dark and we were the only people there.  Let me just say they had some of the fastest and the best service I have ever had eating out.  We ordered two double cheeseburgers, fries, fry sauce (I'm from Utah, yum!) and of course, the Oreo shake.

Almost before we sat down they had brought the food and asked us if we needed anything.  They were so nice!

And what makes this even better was the food was pretty tasty too.  Especially the shake.
They brought out the shake and immediately we were impressed with the presentation.  Lots of crushed Oreos.  With big chunks.  A good sign.  No shake place we have seen yet had quite so many Oreos on top so we rated it a 4.5 out of 5.
Price wasn't bad either.  $4.19 for a pretty large shake.  We gave it a 4.5 out of 5.
The taste was pretty good as well.  It had a nice combination of ice cream and Oreo flavor throughout.  We gave it a 4 out of 5.

The texture was perfect!  It was thick and you definitely had to eat it with a spoon.  But the best part was it had plenty of large Oreo chunks through the entire shake!  Too often shakes will have no chunks or they are not mixed throughout and you have a shake with Oreo in parts and just vanilla ice cream in other parts.  But not this shake!  It was the perfect balance.  We definitely gave it a 5 out of 5 for the texture.

Now for the final tally:
Presentation - 4.5
Price - 4.5
Taste - 4
Texture - 5
For a grand total of 4.5!

This is one of the best shakes in Utah folks! It is in a four-way tie for number one!

Fred's Sports Grill

While alot of us don't frequent Manti, it's home to one of the best shake places around. We visited Fred's Sports Grill (It's a sports grill in that it's a burger place with a TV that plays sports and sports words written on the walls) when we were down in Manti for the Mormon Miracle Padgent with my folks.

It took a couple of drive by's down the road to find the place, and it didn't help that we had a caravan with my family joining us on our quest. We found it though!

It's kinda a hole-in-the wall place. But it's definitely worth a visit! Whenever you're in Manti that is...

My family was down from Oregon, and wanted to go to visit the Manti pageant, so naturally, we looked up shake places in the area. We might as well take a family vacation detour to continue our quest. My parents were more then happy to go along with our milkshake driven suggestion (it definitely helped that there were a bunch of good reviews online for Fred's).

After working it into our schedule we stopped by. My family loved the small-town feel and we ordered a small feast. Seriously, my dad ordered a giant burger with sweet potato fries and what turned out to be an enormous shake (He got Mint Oreo [Sorry Naomi]) and he couldn't finish it all. He had to enlist the help of my brothers (My preteen brother happy to help him finish his shake) to finish it all.  But, that's how my family rolls. Get a lot of different things and if you share you get a little bit of everything.

Me and my wife ordered their Oreo shake, and like I said it was big. I'm glad we only ordered one because we wouldn't have stood a chance and finishing two.

Starting with taste... It topped the list with a perfect 5. It was Oreo-y throughout and its chunks of Oreo gave it a great flavor!

Texture also got high marks with an additional 5 in Fred's score. It was thick and didn't seem to melt after a couple minutes.

Price was great as well! we definitely got the bang-our-buck that we were looking for with the shake. It was pretty reasonably price and huge. We gave it a 5 in this catagory too.

It was perfect...except for the presentation. I'm not saying it was bad at all. It just wasn't exceptional. It was simply a shake in a cup. We gave it a normal 3 out of 5.

The total score was...

Presentation - 3
Price - 5
Taste - 5
Texture - 5

Overall - 4.5

I'm Keen on Dairy Keen

The same roommates that introduced me to the yummy-ness that was Pace's Dairy Ann also told me about Dairy Keen.  I wanted to check it out but it was in Heber and we aren't usually out that way.  But one day we found ourselves in Heber and I knew we had to eat at Dairy Keen.  You could say I was keen to go (get it?). We didn't have a lot of spare time so we decided to go through the drive thru. The motto of the restaurant is "Home of the Train" so consequently, the whole place is train themed!  How fun is that??  As you go through the drive thru around the building there are painted lines to look like railroad ties to show you where to drive.

When we got there the place was PACKED!!  I'm assuming it is one of the best places to eat in Heber.  Anyway we got some burgers, fries and of course SHAKES!

The food was pretty good as far as I can remember. (I was eating and driving, see? Hurtling up and down the winding canyon at 50+ mph makes me concentrate pretty
hard ...)  Anyway, no one died and we all got fed so that was great.

Now for the most important part: the Oreo Shake review!!

We ordered the medium for $3.49.  It wasn't a very large shake (it was pretty medium...) for that price we gave it a 2 out of 5.

As far as texture goes it didn't have very many Oreo chunks so it got a 2.5 out of 5.

The taste was better it got 3 out of 5 because it tasted moderately Oreo-y.

The presentation was the best achieving a 4 out of 5 because they put a whole Oreo on top all fancy-like.

The grand total was: 2.87

Bummer.

But on the plus side they had accidentally made a large mint Oreo shake so they gave it to us as well.  We were with Shawn's brother and his fiance so they ate the shake and enjoyed it heartily.

We also didn't get any pictures of the shake (because driving! hel-lo!) but found some nice ones on the internet.  (Thanks internet!)

The rundown:
Presentation - 4
Price - 2
Taste - 3
Texture - 2.5
Overall - 2.87

Best Burger

So remember how we went to Nielsen's Frozen Custard the other day? Well we didn't know they served food so we decided to eat at Best Burger and try their Oreo shake as well.  When we drove up to the drive thru we saw they had shakes and malts so we decided to get one of each. Yep! I know what you are thinking, three shakes in one day??  GROSS.  You guys must be gluttons. Except we didn't eat all three shakes.  Hel-lo!  That's a lot of shake.  We ate a reasonable amount and then put them in the freezer.  Now we can have Oreo shakes for the next three days!  Genius, I know.

Anywho we each got a burger and split some fries.  Let me tell you, the food was pretty delicious.  I can't honestly say it was the best burger I've ever had (mostly because I haven't tried every burger on the planet) but it was really yummy.  I would definitely go back.  Also the fries were good and the fry sauce may be the best I have ever had.  (Yes, I am from Utah and yes, I do love fry sauce.)

On to the shake and malt review!
When we got the shake and the malt they looked the EXACT same.  And *spoiler alert* they tasted the EXACT same.  The only difference was the price because whatever malt is, it costs more.

So for presentation it wasn't anything special, in fact it was kind of boring, not even piled up nice over the rim or anything.  We gave them both a 2.5

Texture was just okay.  We probably could have drunk it through a straw.  We gave them both 2.5 also.

The price actually wasn't too bad.  The shake was $3.35 and the malt was $3.65.  We gave the shake price a score of 4 and the malt a score of 3.5.

The taste was where they did the best.  There weren't really any Oreo chunks, but it had Oreos well blended all the way through.  We gave them a 4 (they tasted the same too, remember?)

Here is the rundown and the final tally:

                        Shake                  Malt
Presentation -      2.5                      2.5
Price -                   4                        3.5
Taste -                   4                         4
Texture -              2.5                      2.5
Overall -             3.25                   3.125

We scratched an 's' into the shake so we could tell the difference between the shake and the malt.

Nielsen's Frozen Custard

Yesterday we stopped by Nielsen's Frozen Custard. My good friend Kelsey recommended this place and one of her favorites. She said her and her husband would frequent it when she lived here in Salt Lake. With that it was on our list and we made plans to visit the diner (we actually didn't realize it was a diner, with a name like Nielsen's Frozen Custard, we figured that's mostly what they had.)

Their shake was called a "concrete mixer" which I think was a pretty fitting name because it was pretty thick and chunky. That was definitely the best part of it.

Anyways, the shake wasn't super impressive when they handed it to us through our car window. It was simply an Oreo shake in a cup. The cup however did have a nice little design on it. so, for presentation we gave it a 3.

For price we ended up paying more than usual for it and it was pretty small as you can see in the picture. So, this earned it a 1.5. They only had one size too, which was kind of a bummer...

Taste was also poor. It had a strong vanilla ice-cream flavor, which is a great base, but not the flavor one wants when they're getting an Oreo shake. It was however a vanilla concrete mixer with Oreo, so with that consideration it got a 2.5. It's one redeeming quality was that the Oreo chunks, although not really blended in, gave it somewhat of an Oreo flavor.

Texture however, saved this shake in my book. It was pretty thick and not watery at all. It also had lots of big chunks of Oreos giving it a 4.5.

The total score was:

Presentation - 3
Price - 1.5
Taste - 2.5
Texture - 4.5
Overall - 2.875

Purple Turtle

Purple Turtle was one of our first stops. We had heard the they had good shakes. They did. Not to spoil the surprise for anyone, but we liked it so much that we go back again and again. My wife and I
actually went there after we were married. It was on the way to our reception and we needed some food. So, we went through the drive-thru tux, wedding dress and all. The girl taking our order was so exited about it that she gave up coupons for two free shake next time we came!
(Seriously, on a couple of occasions I've thought about dressing up just for the free shakes in the drive-through.)

In addition to the shakes being amazing, the had super good food. The onion rings are amazing! This place definitely gets the Shawn and Naomi seal of approval.

The milkshake was soo good, well, in almost all areas. For taste, texture and price it got top marks (5's). It was the presentation that hurt it's overall score though. It was simply a shake in a cup... Giving it an average 3 out of 5. But, if you're like me and my wife and you're not picky about the looks, this is a great place to go! Seriously, you won't regret it!

Also, if Oreo isn't your thing they've got tons of other choices!

It's been a while since we've made it back to the Turtle, because we've got so many shake places to visit. Living in Salt Lake doesn't lend itself to making the trip short either... Anyways, this is a past visit, so we don't have any photographic evidence. (Just the picture we stole off the Internet)

Here's the scores:

Presentation - 3
Price - 5
Taste - 5
Texture - 5
Overall - 4.5

Chubby's

Yesterday we went to Chubby's in Pleasant Grove, and man is PG the place to go for Shakes! Seriously, within walking distance you have Purple Turtle, One Man Band Diner and Chubby's. (Purple Turtle and One Man Band Diner currently being tied for 1st as the best Oreo Shake!)

Chubby's was in an interesting location. It was in a small strip mall type store front next to a hardware store. But, that being said there were tons of people there! The line was almost out the door!! It was the place to be too. Even with competitors a stones throw away it still was packed with customers.

After I got our food, and we got situated in the car an ambulance came and pulled up in front of Chubby's. I'm not sure what happened, but paramedics rushed in and soon a middle-aged man was wheeled out on a stretcher. I hope he's all right! I haven't been able to find any local stories on what happened on the internet through KSL or the Daily Herald. So, if you know where one is please let us know!

We apparently seemed to have parked by the Chubby's-mobile too. This was just part of the view because we stayed in the car with our still newborn. I went in to get the food and the atmosphere was great! It seemed like everyone was happy to be there and all over the place there were random nick-knacks and old-timey decorations.

They don't call it Chubby's for nothing! With huge hamburgers and a liberal amount of sides with every order it was plenty of food for the two of us. I know I barely finished. I had the BBQ burger and it was way good. It wasn't your traditional burger with barbecue sauce.

Once we got our food the contest began!

I've gotta say I was super impressed with the presentation from the get go. With whipped cream and Oreo pieces sprinkled on top it gave it's cohort One Man Band Diner a run for it's money with a score of 5 too.

Although it came with a straw, we couldn't use it until the end. The shake was definitely made to eat with a spoon! It got a 4 for it's great thickness, but didn't get full marks because of its lack of Oreo chunks.

Taste was pretty good with a score of 3.5. But it didn't impress. I wasn't Oreo-y throughout either, there were patch of vanilla ice-cream.

It was somewhat over-priced for what it was, but it was a pretty solid shake. They had a couple sizes to choose from but with the large not being that big but over $4 it wasn't the most affordable shake you could get. It scored a 2.5 out of 5 for price.

To summarize, it got:

Presentation - 5
Price - 2.5
Taste - 3.5
Texture - 4

Overall - 3.75

Not the best Oreo shake we've had, but pretty dang good! I'd wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone. Me and my wife agree that the food was better, but it's definitely worth your time!

Cold Stone

Cold Stone was one of the first stops on our list, and after we got a Cold Stone gift card as a wedding present (best present ever! Seriously though, An excuse to go get ice-cream whenever you want!) we had no reason not to go.

Frankly, I was pretty exited. Sure enough, Cold Stone had an Oreo Shake. This was gonna be good!

They called our name, and we got our shake. It wasn't beautiful, but if I've only learned one thing from this quest it's don't judge a milkshake by it's cover... You know what I mean...

So, going off of that it scored a below average 2 out of 5 in the presentation area because of it.

Also, not so great was the price. It was super expensive, and it wasn't even that big! It scored a 1 for price. I knew it wouldn't be cheap, but seriously?

The texture was also pretty disappointing. It was definitely made to drink through a straw. On top of that there weren't very many pieces of Oreo. We gave it a 1.5. This was probably because they used Oreo ice-cream instead of blending in the Oreos. I would suggest throwing a couple in with the ice-cream to win with taste and texture.

Taste was the only redeeming quality of the shake. It was pretty flavorful, and Oreo through and through. It definitely helped that they made the shake from their Oreo cookie ice-cream. It still only reached a score of 3 out of 5.

Putting it at:

Presentation - 2
Price - 1
Texture - 1.5
Taste - 3
Overall -1.875

My last words to Cold Stone would be,
stick to ice-cream ... you're good at that.

Rita's

So, Rita's opened up just about the time we left Provo, but we had to stop by and get a shake when we came back into town! Much like B and D Burgers, it was quite a college-esk atmosphere. Not only did it have the demographic, but it looked the part to. If we were rating milkshake places I would give Rita's high mark with it's fun and refreshingly polished look.

We soon found out that they not one, but two Oreo shakes! Making this a double-shake post!! So, naturally we got both. I did half expect them to be pretty similar, but the did a pretty good job in giving you options! Even when you're just having an Oreo shake!

Although one of them that we tried is called a Blendini, for all intents and purposes they were shakes.

So, I thought I would begin with Rita's Oreo shake:

First off the taste was great!! It was Oreo through and through so we gave it a perfect 5.

Secondly, texture was a 3. It was made to drink through a straw though, so if you're lookin' for a shake you can sip on the go I would recommend stopping by one of these fine establishments. It definitely didn't have chucks, and wasn't thick like we were going for though.

Price got a 3 too. If wasn't super expensive, but i definitely wouldn't say it was cheap. It was pretty average as far as we've seen.

Last it presentation. It wasn't crazy impressive, but with the whipped cream it looked pretty good. We forgot to take pictures, so these are ones we got off the interwebs. Although our shake had whipped cream it did not (like the shake pictured) have a cherry. because of this it ended up with a 3.

So, now onto the Oreo Blendini:

Compared to the milkshake, the Oreo Blendini was disappointing in regards to taste. With a 2 out of 5 it did't score to well because of it. In Rita's defense though, it isn't a shake and is somewhat in a different category.

Opposite of the taste, the texture scored a 4. It was surprisingly thick and chunky.

Price and presentation both scored 3's.

All around we were pretty impressed by Rita and her Oreo shakes.

To summarize:

The Shake scored:

Presentation - 3
Price - 3
Taste - 5
Texture - 3

The Blendini got:
Presentation - 3
Price - 3
Taste - 2
Texture - 4

Averaged it was:
Blendini - 3
Shake - 3.5

Chedda Burger

So we heard about Chedda Burger via Facebook and were intrigued.  A new burger place?  With shakes?  We had to try it.  We cleared our very "busy" schedules to try it out on the day they opened.

I went in to get the food while Shawn stayed with our newborn in the car.  There were several people there and they looked excited to be there.  That was a good sign.  However, the interior of the store looked like JDawgs in Provo so that was kind of weird.

I ordered some burgers, chedda tots and two shakes.  The menu said they had a mint Oreo shake, but I asked nicely and they made me a regular Oreo shake.  (I really don't know what is with people and mint flavored things ... it all tastes like toothpaste to me.)
Our haul.
It was our 60th Oreo shake too which is kinda awesome! Not gonna lie, If we tried to do this in a week, or even a few months we'd probably both have diabetes... But it's it's been over two years and we still have over 20 shake places we still have yet to go to on our list though.

My first impression of the shake was not too bad.  They put a bit of whipped cream on the top and had a giant straw so that was fun.  We gave them 4 out of 5.  The shake was a little messy, I had to wipe off the sides before I could take them out to the car.

The price wasn't that great.  The Oreo shake was a pie shake so it was more expensive.  $5 and it wasn't that big.  We gave it 2.5 out of 5.

The texture we also gave 2.5 out of 5.  There were some chunks throughout, but it was pretty thin.  Nick (the owner) said that he isn't happy with the thickness and is working on making it thicker.  I told him we will come back to try it again when he is happy with the shake.

The taste was amazing though.  We gave it a 5 out of 5.  It was sweet and Oreo-y and we loved it.  After just a few bites we knew the taste made this a good shake.
The shakes looked so yummy we had to try them before we got home.

The final score was:
Presentation - 4
Price - 2.5
Taste - 5
Texture - 2.5

The final total is - 3.5

McDonald's

One of the first on our list was good ol' micky d's. We got a McFlurry cause they didn't have Shakes in Oreo. While not called a milkshake it still qualifies in our book. I remember getting 'em as a kid, but I wasn't sure if they'd taste nearly as amazing with my refined adult palate.

It was a pretty good shake though.

To start off it came with the spoon it was mixed with. It's a really big plastic spoon. That was kinda cool. But, as for the rest of the presentation, that was about it. There weren't any toppings or anything on it. so, it got an average 3 out of 5.

Taste was alright, but it wasn't nearly as Oreoy as we had hoped for. It wasn't quite mixed all the way too so some of the shake was just straight up vanilla. That was probably more on the side of the one who made it, but "be ye warned". McDonald's employees aren't known for going above and beyond. It received a 2.5 because of it.

Price was pretty good it might not be the best shake for your hard earned dough, but it definitely was the best bang for the buck. They have a couple different sizes to choose from too so that made it a little more flexible when it came to options. I could've done with one more, but I'm not complaining. We gave it the coveted 5 out of 5.

As for texture it did pretty good with a 4 out of 5. Aside from not having Oreo pieces throughout it was pretty chunky. It was made with their soft serve ice-cream, so it wasn't a great base to start with, and melted super fast, but they put in lots of Oreos! And they were the name brand too!

If you're curious about the M&M McFlurrys they didn't do too well. M&Ms are great, but they used M&M minis and it didn't really blend to well with the ice-cream. It was just a vanilla shake with M&Ms in it. It was pretty good, but I would recommend the Oreo. I am a little bias though...

The final score was:

Presentation - 3
Price - 5
Taste - 2.5
Texture - 4
Overall - 3.625

Holiday Gas Station

One day I told a co-worker about the quest me and my wife were on for Oreo shakes. He quickly mentioned and handful of places we had been to. But, he also mentioned getting shakes with his daughters at the local Holiday gas station. yes, the one with the clown.

So, this was added to the list and me and my wife quickly went to check if they had Oreo shakes, and yes they did (well, it was actually cookies and cream...but, close enough)!!!

One great thing about this convenience store is its...convenience. But seriously, they're everywhere and you can walk over and get a shake while you're getting gas!!

First impression was...different. The shake at the beginning isn't a shake... It's a cup of ice-cream. You make it yourself!! It's AMAZING!! You take one of the cups and stick in a pretty standard shake making mixer thing and push start. In a few minutes I was looking at a homemade shake made by yours truly. It wasn't the best shake ever created, but it was probably the best one I've ever made.

I ran out to my wife who was filling up the car and shouted, "They had it!" Startling the elderly gentleman at the pump next to us... He probably just thought I was crazy as he went back to washing his windshield.

As for price, it was pretty cheap, one of the least expensive. But, it was a pretty small amount of shake, so the value was limited by that. Also, they only had one size (which makes sense 'cause it's not really a shake place, or a restaurant for that matter...) It was still a downer though. Anyways, we ended up on 4 out of 5 for price. Even with the drawbacks it was a pretty good deal. I'd highly recommend to swing by your local Holiday and see if they have 'em. (they also have a ton of other flavors)

The presentation was alright. It kinda goes without saying that it was simply an Oreo shake. No cherry on top. No whipped cream. It got an average score of 3 out of 5.

Along the same lines the taste wasn't amazing. It got a 3 too.

As for the texture it was pretty thin. But, I'm sure it's quite a bit harder to make a spoon style shake that has chunks coming from a frozen ice-cream base. With this consideration it earned a 1.5.

The final tally was:

Presentation - 3
Price - 4
Taste - 3
Texture - 1.5
Overall - 2.875

B&D Burgers

It took us a little bit to find it, but nestled in a side street by U of U is B&D burgers. Because of it's location it looks pretty "collegy". It might not be The Pie, but me and my wife were instantly taken back to college because of the atmosphere.

After we got our food, we sat down to enjoy. I got an avocado burger, and as a side note, they stuck
the equivalent of half an avocado on there. I like avocado as much as the next guy, but you've got to love avocado to appreciate this. It was too much avocado for me ... it wasn't my cup of tea.

On to the shake. First impressions weren't out of the ballpark, but it was a good shake. I'd go as far to say above average though. So, if it was my grade in algebra, I'd be happy to see it on my report card.

To start with presentation, we were pleasantly surprised. we gave it a 4.

As for price it was pretty normal. Good, not great. it ended up with a 3.

We were pleasantly surprised with the texture. It was pretty close to perfection, so we gave it a 4.5.

The taste was pretty great too landing it with a 4.

All in all the ratings were:

Presentation - 4
Price - 3
Taste - 4
Texture - 4.5

With an overall score of:
                                                  3.875

Shari's

When my little sister heard about this adventure we had embarked on she suggested Shari's. I grew up going to Shari's (it's like an Applebee's type diner). I hadn't even thought about it in regards to Oreo shakes, but sure enough they had one! and they even have delicious Pie shake! (which we didn't rate...but we will!)

When we were in Oregon visiting my family for Christmas we took my little sister and headed over to Shari's to continue our quest. Because, after all, there's never any reason not to quest!

We sat down and ordered the Oreo shake.

In addition we got the S'more Pie Shake. Although it's not really an Oreo shake it was super tasty, and I would highly recommend it and any other of their pie shakes. Maybe in my next life I'll go on a pie shake quest.

Back to the Oreo shake...

When they brought it out I was impressed.

It was in a tall glass with the extra in it's metal mixing cup. With the whipped cream it easily scored a 4 in the presentation area.

The price was pretty reasonable for what you got. A lot of shake! The shake itself was pretty big but combined with its sidekick in a metal cup I would recommend sharing it! It received a 3.5.

The taste was amazing! It was Oreo through and through. It scored a perfect 5.

As for texture, It left a lot to be wanted. If you're looking for a shake you can drink this is a good choice, but it wasn't the thick, chunky shake I was looking for. It only scored a 2 for texture.

The scoring goes as follows:

Presentation - 4
Price - 3.5
Taste - 5
Texture - 2
Overall it was:
3.625
