This year we decided to celebrate our 2 1/2 year anniversary and what better way to celebrate than to get Oreo shakes!! Seriously though, who even needs a reason?
Anyways, we planned on going up to Bountiful and stopping by a couple of shake places. The plan was we were gonna get dinner at the first place, but it turned out that was just a plan ... fate had a different idea ...
Turns out we got super turned around and wound up in Centerville. So we decided to look for places to go as we drove back south headed toward Salt Lake. At this point we just wanted somewhere to have dinner that wasn't lame. That's when we stumbled upon Pace's Dairy Ann!
My wife had actually heard about Pace's Dairy Ann from a few friends that went there growing up, and, sure enough, they had Oreo shakes! It turned out there wasn't a drive-thru, and with our newborn along for the ride, I stayed in the car with her and let Naomi order to go. So once we got the food we drove back home to find out how it lined up. It was a pretty good shake, and in the words of my wife it was "an all around solid shake". Not amazing, not super cheap, not terrible but pretty good.
Speaking of price it rung up at $3.40. There was only one size and it wasn't huge (like Iceberg's smallest) but it was ... pretty average, much like the rest of the shake (probably about 16oz). It is kinda lame that they don't give you wiggle room if you want a huge shake or something tiny to just go with your burger and fries, but that's that. We gave it a 2.5 out of 4.
As for the presentation, it was nothing to write home about. Not great, but not unappetizing. It got a 2.5 too. Not the worst it could get, but not the best either. Just average.
Going with taste it was along the same lines. Good, but not great. it was fairly oreo-y but not quite enough for myself or my wife's liking. It was mixed pretty well, and the flavor was spread through the whole shake, but there was still mostly vanilla flavor, and the Oreo seemed like somewhat of a side note. because of this it ended up with the same rating, 2.5 but out of 5.
Ending with texture it's rating was bumped up to 3. For this category we were a little more pleased with it than the rest. Why? you might ask. Well, we drove back home without so much as tasting it and compared to our other shake (which in all fairness was hot fudge) it wasn't very melted. Some shakes we've run across are pretty watery from the get go, but this one seemed to be pretty shake-like even after a 10 or so minute car ride.
As a side note we were pretty happy with the food. We both got cheeseburgers. The only complaint was to patty was a little small. But, combined with a side ( tater tots in my wife's case and onion rings in mine) it filled us up. I couldn't even finish mine. But seriously, I got an insane amount of onion rings, and they were HUGE! The shake may not have been a 10 but the rings were in my book.
To summarize, the final score was:
Presentation - 3
Price - 3
Taste - 2.5
Texture - 3
And the grand total was...
2.875 (Not a record breaker, but still worth a visit)
